About Our Community

caGrid is not just software, it is a community. caGrid has far reaching connections with its users, affiliates, critics, and friends. The caGrid team and its affiliates continue to work hard to educate and motivate likely consumers of service-oriented architectures for science and industry. We are always looking for new use cases and groups to work with, help, and share ideas. Please feel free to contact the caGrid community at community@cagrid.org. The caGrid community continues to grow in size and application domains. Visit the caBIG caGrid Knowledge Center to obtain information from other users or to locate individuals who might be able to provide more detail regarding specific needs.

The following is a list of communities that develop, utilize, and contribute to caGrid.

caBIG® stands for the cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid. caBIG® is an information network enabling all constituencies in the cancer community - researchers, physicians, and patients - to share data and knowledge. The components of caBIG® are widely applicable beyond cancer as well. The mission of caBIG® is to develop a truly collaborative information network that accelerates the discovery of new approaches for the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer in order to improve patient outcomes. The caGrid Community Training Grid is a testing Grid set up specifically for any and all service developers who want to test integrating their new services into a Grid. This Grid is maintained by the caBIG® caGrid Knowledge Center. Read more about the Community Training Grid.

A national consortium of medical research institutions, funded through Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs), is working together and shares a common vision to:

  • Improve the way biomedical research is conducted across the country
  • Reduce the time between laboratory discoveries becoming viable treatments for patients
  • Engage communities in clinical research efforts
  • Train the next generation of clinical and translational researchers

The aim of the CardioVascular Research Grid (CVRG) project is to create an infrastructure for sharing cardiovascular data and data analysis tools. The CVRG will support national and international multi-institutional collaborations in cardiovascular science, and will build upon and extend tools developed by the caBIG and BIRN projects.
